Book Club Resource
This is my first learning object created with Captivate software. This responsive project is to be used in a blended learning environment. It serves as a reference for book club activities and assignments. The Book Club Activities provides tips and examples for journal work. Navigation is simplified for use with intermediate level learners. The skin provides more detailed controls. There is very little learner interaction as it is a resource only. As a responsive project, it is viewable on multiple devices.
Fauvorite Artistic Movement Tutorial
This is a group project created with the SAM2 iterative process of design proof, alpha, beta, and gold release product versions. The topic is group selected. All participants contributed to the planning documents and the slides. This project is a great example of collaboration as all tasks were divided and then reviewed as a team before incorporated. Each member brought different strengths and talent to the team.

Discussion Board Prompt
This learning object was an opportunity to practice with Captivate software. As a group, we were in charge of creating a discussion board prompt for the instructional design CSU Fullerton cohort. The discussion prompt was to be a situation that would require instructional design skills. This presentation is only intended to help develop the scenario for the discussion board.
Social Cognitive Theory
This is a group project. The learning goal is for the instructional design cohort to understand social cognitive theory in order to utilize the principles in the development of instructional methods. Sounds boring, right?
Our group jazzed it up with videos and an audio narration. The navigation for the tutorial is very simple with the skin providing more complex maneuvering. The branching is very linear. The beginning of the tutorial uses Noel Burch's idea of the first stage of competency with questioning to allow the learner to recognize they have something to learn.
This tutorial provides background knowledge to respond to the discussion board prompt which is on the finishing slides and hopefully frames social cognitive theory for everyone who watches!

Vocabulary Tutorial
This is a work in progress. I am trying to transfer what I know works in the classroom to what can work with online practice.
This learning object is designed for the struggling middle school reader. To a proficient reader, this tutorial may seem slow. Research shows that a struggling reader can learn approximately 12 words a month and the learner needs multiple exposures to new vocabulary. There are five steps in this lesson: describe a picture, connect the image with a contextual sentence, match the word with the word in a sentence, hear/see the word used to describe a situation, and then use the word in own sentence. That is only 5 out of the needed minimum of 25 exposures to the word. Follow up in the classroom would include cooperative learning activities for more practice.
In this tutorial, there are many opportunities for the learner to write answers, or apply their knowledge. It is essential that learners use new vocabulary in order to encode what the word means. Without expression, long term memory is weak.
I use an old news story and the radio feed from the incident to allow the learner to picture what they think is happening as it is being described. I am hoping the learner creates a picture before a narrative to stimulate visualization.
